Considering how sharp the Tiger Woods series is getting, I was hoping for better graphics this time around. The game just isn't too much of an advancement over its predecessor, which was released more than two years ago in the U.S. Visually I was a bit disappointed in the game. There were too many characters I felt "meh" about, which I think is a testament to the character designers' ability to elicit strong feelings from the player. There are players and caddies you'll love and some that you'll hate. Overall the character selection is strong.
I expect this kind of crossover from Nintendo and am delighted to see Sony using its franchise characters in a similar manner. You can hit the links with Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank. There are even familiar Sony characters for you to play as. Several classic players and caddies are back along with some brand new ones. Similar to the courses, the characters in Hot Shots Golf Fore! are a mix of old and new. Insomniac's dynamic duo make an appearance in Hot Shots Fore! What Clap Hanz offers is a nice blend of creativity and realism that adds up for really fun courses.

There aren't outlandish courses with Chain Chomps like in Mario Golf nor are there accurate recreations of the pro tour as found in Tiger Woods.
I was pretty happy with the courses design and variety. There are 12 18-hole courses (including five from the previous game), two putt-putt courses, and a nine-hole par-3 course. Hot Shots Golf Fore! features 15 courses for you to play on. It's definitely a solid title that offers fine gameplay and excellent replay value, but outside of the online play - which is pretty barebones - it isn't too much of an advancement over its predecessor. Hot Shots Golf Fore! has everything gamers have loved about the series, a modicum of refinement to the visuals and gameplay, and brand new Internet modes. The latest game in the franchise is no different. Kicked off by Camelot and skillfully continued by Clap Hanz, Hot Shots Golf has done an outstanding job at offering a diverse golf game featuring accurate physics, approachable controls, creative courses, and colorful characters. Sony's Hot Shots Golf series has been one of the most successful, enjoyable, and approachable lines of golf games in the history of console gaming.
